Do I need to be some sweet ole’ runner to do this?

Oh my goodness, NO. There are plenty of other great 5k’s out there to test speed and performance. We’re all about a colour crazy day with friends and family. You can run, walk, crawl, or cartwheel if you wish!

Is The Color Run timed?

The Color Run™ is not a timed event. Participants tend to take their sweet time out there and we realised no one really cares about their speed. We suggest self-timing for anyone desiring a finish time.

Is there an age limit?

There are no age restrictions at the event (one in, all in!). If the participant can cover running, walking, jogging, strolling or dancing the 5km course, they can absolutely do The Color Run! Don’t forget, kids 5 and under even run free!

How does the Start Chute work?

The start chute will open 10 minutes before the run commences. We will then let everyone onto the course in waves of approx. 500-800 every 3-6 minutes. We do suggest any serious runners make their way into the chute early so they can be among the first group to enter the course.

What is the Finish Festival?

The Finish Festival is your chance to release a few more endorphins. It’s your chance to show off your biggest, baddest dance moves while wildly bopping around to some of the latest and greatest tunes. It also happens to be the place our epic Color Throws take place, so prepare to be even more coloured than you ever thought possible! (yep, we’re talking blowing colour out of your nose for the next few hours…or days)

Can I take photos or film at the event?

The Color Run is a great event to get great visuals for your memories, Insta, Facebook page or maybe you even take your photography more seriously and are wanting to prepare a portfolio. We welcome anyone to photograph or film at our event for PERSONAL use only. We DO NOT accredit anyone other than limited official media. So please, come along, enjoy the event and take shots until your colourful heart is content.

What happens if it is raining on event day?

No need to sweat! The Color Run is a rain, shine, or moonlight event. We’ll only consider postponing or cancelling the event when the public’s safety is at stake.

Who is this mysterious Runicorn I keep hearing about?!

The Runicorn is a magical creature that loves to follow our events all over the country! Try to catch a glimpse of him. He can be seen roaming the village before the run, he might then make an appearance in the start chute and if you don’t spot him here you can bet you’ll spot him near the stage during Color Throws! If you catch him, be sure to get a selfie and share it to our Facebook page

What is included with my The Color Run registration?

For our Dream Tour, participants will receive a custom The Color Run t-shirt, headband, finishers medal, temporary tattoo, colour packet, race bib and wristband.

For our Night events, participants will receive a custom The Color Run t-shirt, headlamp, temporary tattoo, two colour packets, race bib and wristband.

How much does The Color Run cost?

Prices differ per city so you will need to click your city on our locations web page here.

If we have not yet announced the date of our event, pricing information will not yet be available. Make sure you sign up to the VIP list to stay in the loop and be among the first to know when all the juicy details are announced. We also offer a few cheeky discounts here and there to our VIP’s.

What is the difference between team, individual, family and kid’s registrations?

A team registration is four or more friends/colleagues/people you some what know, running skipping or walking together. Four is only the minimum, not the maximum! Your team can be as big as you like!

An individual registration is a participant running solo, in a duo or in a trio.

A kid’s registration is for a child aged between 6-15 years. When registering a child, you will still have to chose either team or individual entry. However, their date of birth will ensure the price is automatically discounted to the kid’s price. Don’t forget, kids 5 and under run free!

A family registration is valid for 2 adults + 2 kids. If you have more than 4 family members, you can purchase additional individual tickets for the extra children/adults. At the event there is no difference or division between participants, so they’ll certainly still be able to run/walk with you!

How do I register my child who is 5 or under and what do they receive with their FREE registration?

When registering yourself, you will be asked if you have any children 5 or under running with you. Simply select ‘yes’ and enter the number of additional children of this age participating with you. You do not need to enter their personal details as you did for yourself.

The child will be attached to your own registration and not receive their own ticket or show on your invoice. However, when we scan your ticket, rest assured it will display that you have an extra child participating with you.

As children who are 5 or under receive a free entry, they will receive a race bib and a wristband with their entry. We sell super cute children’s sized Color Run T-shirts online when you register and at our merchandise store at Packet Pick Up and the event. They are of course most welcome to wear their own white t-shirt or costume should they wish!

How can I view my registration and update my personal details?

You can do this by logging into your account here. Once logged in, simply select ‘Register For or Update Existing Event’. You will then be able to click through your registration form and update your details. Keep in mind that if you need to change the registration details into another participants name, you will need to complete a transfer using the instructions further below.

Am I able to receive a refund?

Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds when the event goes ahead. The logistics of setting up and planning the event make it impossible. Just make sure you are good to go before signing up. If for some reason you can’t make it to race day, you’re welcome to transfer your registration over to someone else by logging into your account here!

How can I transfer my registration?

To transfer your registration, you will need to login to your account here. Simply select ‘transfer my registration’ on the left hand panel of your account. You will then need to select to ‘Give away this registration’ under the city you’re registered for. Once you select this, you will be prompted to enter the email address of the new participant. The new participant will then be sent an email directing them to complete the registration and pay the $5 transfer fee (excl. processing fee). And just like that, your registration has been transferred! NOTE: If you have paid for postage, transfers will close 4 weeks prior to the event so you MUST transfer your registration before this time.

Am I able to transfer my registration over to another city/event?

Unfortunately we do not have the ability to transfer your registration over to another city or event. Instead we suggest you transfer you registration over to somebody else and purchase a ticket for the city/event you would like to attend.

What is Packet Pick Up? How does all that work?

You will need to attend Packet Pick Up prior to the event to pick up your pack, if you did not already pay to have it posted out to you. Once you register for the event you will be emailed a check in ticket that will need to be printed and brought with you, or shown as a screenshot on your mobile device, at Packet Pick Up.

Can someone else pick up my packet for me?

Yes, just bring along their ticket with you to Packet Pick Up. It can either be a physical copy or electronic copy!

How can I retrieve a copy of my confirmation email/check in ticket?

If you do recall receiving the confirmation email when you registered, please try searching your inbox for ‘The Color Run’ (note the spelling of colour!) or try searching by our email address australia@thecolorrun.com

If you still have no luck, log in to your account here to resend yourself a copy of your confirmation email, which includes your check in ticket. Once logged in, you will need to select ‘My Registrations’ and choose to ‘Print or view confirmation email’. If you are having trouble logging in with your email address, it is likely a typo was entered upon registration. Therefore, please email australia@thecolorrun.com

Can I have my event kit delivered?

Yes, just be sure to select the “send me my kit” option when registering. Postage is an additional $12.65 per person. Event kits will be delivered to the address listed during your registration. NOTE: Postage closes 4 weeks prior to the event so you must register before this date.

Can all of my friends/family kits be sent to one address?

Yes, as long as you enter your postal address on each ticket. However, the postage fee will remain at $12.65 per person, not per address (as the cost of postage is determined by the weight of the pack – not it’s domestic destination!).

Are there any addresses you do not post to?

Unfortunately our courier service does not post to PO Boxes. Therefore, you will not be able to enter a PO Box address! If you enter a business address, be sure to include the business name so we can ensure it reaches you. If multiple packs will be sent to one business address, ensure your mail department knows that packs will be arriving in other participants names (who may not be employed there!) – otherwise they are usually sent back to us.

When should I expect my event kit?

Your event kit will arrive approximately 5-10 days prior to the event. Make sure you check out the ‘Postage’ section on your city’s web page to find the exact dates you can expect to receive your event kit.

Can I edit my address after registering?

Yes. Any changes to your address must be made 4 weeks prior to the event. To update your address or any other details log into your account here.

If I have purchased a ticket and postage can I still transfer my entry?

Yes, however all transfers must be made 4 weeks prior to the event. After this stage we cannot complete any transfers – as your kit has already been dispatched to you!

Is there a postage cut off?

Yes, you will need to ensure you register at least 4 weeks prior to the event to be eligible for postage. After this time you will need to collect your event kit from Packet Pick Up.

How do I add postage onto my registration after registering?

To add postage onto your registration, you will need to log into your account here. You will need to select to ‘Register for or Update Existing Event’. You will then need to select the option that reads your city name/add postage and merchandise only. This will direct you to your registration form, which you will need to click through until you reach the postage question, where you can change your preference to ‘yes’ and complete payment of the postage fee. Don’t forget postage closes 4 weeks prior to the event.

Can I run with a jogging stroller and my kids?

On one condition…if you are prepared to be one of the hippest mums/dads on the planet! As long as they are cute and like to have fun…all kids 5 and under can run with an adult FREE of charge!

Is the course wheel-chair friendly?

We are proud to say that all of our courses are accessible, so everyone can enjoy the Happiest 5K on the Planet! Many of our events are on grass however, so please keep this in mind. We suggest an all-terrain wheelchair or to bring a friend along who will be able to help you through more tricky parts of the course.

Can I bring my scooter or bike?

Unfortunately, due to safety reasons, the only wheels we allow at our events are prams and wheelchairs. Sorry!

Can I run with my dog/cat/turtle?

Sorry, no animals or fury friends are permitted at any of our events.

Is water supplied?

We encourage all Color Runners to bring a bottle of water with them to keep hydrated. There will be fill up points within the village for you to top your bottle up. We will also have a water station roughly half way along the course and all participants receive a bottle of water as they cross the finish line.

How is the colour administered?

You will see smiling faces along the course with their main goal being to douse you in colourful powder to ensure you look like you ran through a beautiful rainbow by the time you cross the finish line.

You are sure??? Teenagers with paint ball guns are not involved at any point?

Yes. We are 100% sure, no paint ball guns!

What is the colour made from? Does it stain?

The coloured powder we use is made from corn-starch and natural food dyes. It will wash out of your clothes, however we suggest you leave your designer gear at home! Only wear what you’re willing to get colourful 😉

Will the colour stain my hair?

The coloured powder does generally wash out of your hair, however we do recommend you take precautions if you’re worried! The colour does tend to stick to lighter hair… blondes you are warned! Oiling your hair before the run will help the colour wash out. If you’re having trouble washing it after the event, bi-carb soda and anti dandruff shampoo will help get the more stubborn colour out! We do not take any responsibility for additional costs associated with the removal of colour.

Will the colour ruin clothes or running shoes?

The colour does mostly wash out after the event. As with anything dirty, the sooner you wash it the better. We suggest wearing items that you wouldn’t mind getting colourful.

How do I preserve those precious colours in my shirt?!

If you would like to preserve the colour in your running shirt, spray it with vinegar, let it dry and then iron it. But if you wash it….it eventually will come out.

Do the kilometre “Color Zones” affect runner vision? Or breathing?

The colour powder used at The Color Run event is certified non-toxic and free of any heavy material. Our bright colours are cornstarch and FD&C dyes. As with any substance, you want to keep it out of your eyes and our color throwers make sure to aim low as you pass by. Some Color Runner opt to wear glasses or goggles for their eyes and use a bandana or dust mask for their mouths.

In summary: We work pretty hard to make it so our precious Color Runners get as much or as little colour on them as they like.

Do you have “cleaning stations”?

We have an air blown cleaning zone within the festival area. With a good dusting off, you aren’t 100% clean, but you are totally good for the drive home. It is actually pretty fun to see people still coloured up around town after The Color Run event. It is like a badge of honour!

How does the color affect the inside of cars?

Most people bring some towels for the insides of their cars, just in case. It’s like driving home from the swimming pool in your swimsuit 🙂

Are cameras and phones safe to have in the colour zones?

Our race photographers are totally fine shooting from a medium distance (10-15 meters). If you want to get shots right in the midst of the colour we recommend covering cameras/phones with glad wrap or placing your phone in a zip lock bag.

How does a “Colour Team” work compared with a solo runner?

Pretty simple, you register as a team rather than as an individual. A team is 4+ friends running, laughing and dancing through the course together. You get to pick a groovy custom team name, anything from the ‘We put the Gee in Green All-stars’ to ‘Color Me Pink’. You then get to run/walk together and “help” each other get really colored up over the 5 colour kilometers. There is no “relay” component and team members can start/finish together as a unit or separately.

How do I register a team?

Just select ‘buy now’ on your city’s page and be sure to select ‘Team Entry’ when prompted. After you have entered all of your personal details, you will need to either ‘Create’ or ‘Join’ a team. Once you have created the team and completed your registration, your friends and family will be able to register and join in on the colourful fun! Alternatively, you can register everyone on their behalf by selecting to ‘Add another participant’ on the checkout page of the registration form. You don’t need a full team to get started! Get yourself signed up today and then round up the rest of your team! Encourage them to sign up ASAP…creating a team does not hold or reserve spots. The event can sell out at any time.

Who counts as a team member?

Any paid participant can be a team member this includes kids 6-12 years old. Unfortunately children 5 and under do not count as team members, as they are a free entry. Remember a team must consist of 4+ participants.

Is there a maximum number of participants per team?

Nope! You can have as many team members as you like! You just need to have a minimum of 4 to qualify as a team.

Is The Color Run a Charity Event?

The Color Run is neither a charity nor a non-profit organisation. The Color Run Pty Ltd is a “for profit” event management company and our number one goal is to produce high quality events.
